What is Arabica?

The aristocrat of the bean world. Grown at altitude, delicate in flavour, accounting for about 60% of global production and most of what you'd call “good coffee.”

What is Robusta?

Hardier, more caffeinated, less coquettish. Indispensable to Italian espresso blends and to instant coffee — and increasingly fashionable as Arabica becomes scarce.

Why do prices matter?

Because the price you pay tomorrow is decided today, by farmers, traders, and weather you'll never meet. The futures market is the conversation.
